In 2013, I was shocked and devastated and scared of the unknown.
The BAD: My second child was diagnosed with a life-threatening disorder that damages the lungs and digestive system. At that time, everything I read pointed to “Shortened lifespan”, “Hundreds of hospital visits”, “Your life will be surrounded with lung infections”, “Always Sick”, “Antibiotics. Antibiotics. Eat them like candy, Antibiotics”, “Be terrified of germs”, Etc. You can imagine, as a mother to a newborn and a not quite 2- year- old, I was extremely overwhelmed and felt lost.
The GOOD: The following month, I was on a mission. A mission in the search of, “HOW do I keep my family, my medical needs child, healthy so that we DON’T have to be THAT sick family?”
There MUST be another way.
There MUST be an alternative to living like this.
I continued to search, “How do I have a germ-free home without cleaners that make me sick?”, “How can I support the immune system?”.
GOD gave me hope that things could be different and so I knew there was something out there. And that is when I saw it, something about, “Keeping the Family Healthy Naturally”.
The BEAUTIFUL: Through tons of researching and knowledge that was shared with me, I began learning how to create a healthier environment for my family to not only live in but to THRIVE. Part of this included a process of ditching the toxic chemicals in our home and switching to healthier alternatives. A process that also focuses on the entire body and not just portions. We must take care of our spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional health.
Fast forward to today, my now 11-year-old medical needs child remains healthy, happy, and has yet to be hospitalized or be on antibiotics for lung infection!! As a matter of fact, she has had ZERO lung infections! I know that things can change as it does with this disease, but we will continue to Praise Jesus for the opportunity that has been given to us.
My passion is to share with others that there is hope of a better life. I want to inspire and empower women/mothers that we can create a healthy life for ourselves/our family. As the saying goes, WE are the gatekeepers of our home. YOUR life is worth living no matter what you are going through.
